Notation reloaded: eXtensible Dance Scripting Notation

The Capitol, Horsham
24th - 25th July
10am - 5pm.
£40

This practical, two day course will give you a
working knowledge of eXtensible Dance Scripting
Notation (xdsn). Existing dance notations can be
difficult to learn and slow to use.

xdsn has been designed to be simple to learn and
quick to write, preserve the choreographers
unique approach and is both hand written and
machine readable. xdsn also allows the drawings
that many choreographers use as an alternative to
formal notation.

>From scripting choreography, improvisation or
>technical exercises, xdsn allows to you notate
>as you work. Simple, adaptable and machine
>readable, xdsn is a dance notation for the 21st
>century.

i'm working away from base for a week and will
reply to any emails when i get back..

the notation system can potentally be used for
such diverse apllications as documentation,
avatar animation, coversion of motioncapture data
into human readable notation (and back again) and
facilitates the 'interpritation' of drawings into
movement notation for human or avatar use.

this first weekend is maly focused of the
physical / practical use of xdsn with reference
to the dance tech applications but following
courses will focus on dance tech uses of the
system

many thanks

matt
